  • Uranus has two sets of rings

  • Inner system consists of nine rings, discovered in 1977, and consists mostly of narrow, dark rings

  • How Uranus Got its Name
Uranus got its name when William Herschel tried unsuccessfully to name his discovery Georgian Sidus after King George III; but instead the planet was named for Uranus, the Greek god of the sky.
